German Equity Forum 2020: Mobilising capital Recap

Corona has changed a lot – including the German Equity Forum 2020, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The three-day conference is an annual highlight in the calendar of the capital market community and was most recently held regularly at the Sheraton Conference Center at Frankfurt Airport. This year, however, issuers, start-ups and venture capital funds, institutional investors, financial analysts and journalists were invited to the virtual edition for the first time. This did not detract from the response: around 2,000 participants attended the German Equity Forum.

Issuers and investors held more than 4,000 1-on-1 meetings and 205 companies – from A for ABIVAX to Z for ZEAL Network – invited to the analyst conference. Together, these two formats make up the core of the EKF – also digitally. Appropriately, Executive Board Member Thomas Book stated in his welcome address: “The mobilisation of capital is central to financing the major transformations of our time”. Deutsche Börse wants to further develop the capital market in Germany. This requires a joint approach by politics, business, the financial industry and universities.

As in previous years, Deutsche Börse Venture Network was present with several of its members. The growth companies presented themselves on the digital venture stage and were available for 1-on-1 meetings. For the first time there will also be a satellite format following the EKF: there will be virtual workshops for professionals from the fields of venture capital and private equity.
